This course is aimed at those working in the forestry industry who need to prepare, drive and manoeuvre a mulcher / flail.

The course looks at identifying the hazards and risks associated with the working area, the proposed work and the machine as well as current health and safety legislation. You will be carrying out pre- and post-start checks to ensure correct operation of the machine and safety of the operator and then manoeuvring and operating the machine on-site. Cleaning, servicing and storing the mulcher / flail is also covered.

You must hold the Level 2 Award in Forest Machine Operations (Base Machinery) before undertaking this course / assessment and be at least 16 years of age.

As you will have achieved the Level 2 Award in Forest Machine Operations (Base Machinery), with your required endorsements, you may progress to undertake training and assessment with other specific forest machinery such as the forwarder, skidder and cable crane. Please contact us for more details or to discuss your requirements.

The duration of the course is 1 week, but this can be tailored based on the experience of the driver. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and availability of training / assessment.
